  • How is Organic Meadow Lactose Free milk made?

Certified organic milk is put into a tank at a very low level, about 200ppm (0.02%) of lactase enzyme is added. Over the next 24 hours the lactase breaks down the lactose sugar into glucose and galactose. Every gram of lactose is broken down into ½ gram glucose and ½ gram galactose so the carbohydrate content of the milk stays the same.

  • What is Lactose Free Milk?

Some people have a hard time digesting lactose, which is the natural sugar that is in all cows milk.  Lactose free organic milk is when we take organic milk and add a natural enzyme called 'lactase' which breaks down the lactose into easily digestible sugars, glucose and glactose.  The lactase enzyme is permitted under the Canadian Organic Standards and is non-GMO.

Organic Meadow is proud to offer Canada's first and only organic 2% M.F. lactose-free milk, available in 1L & 2L cartons.

  • Why does your low-fat pressed cottage cheese look and taste different?

Customer Service receives many calls and emails from our consumers with comments regarding many of our products, from taste, texture, consistency to requesting us to make other products.  Once these calls are answered  they are forwarded to our Product Development team for their review.

One product that was receiving lots of attention was our low-fat pressed cottage cheese.  The concerns included packaging that our consumers said was not practical - so we changed the packaging with a 500g tub.  We have been getting rave reviews.

We were also told that the cottage cheese was too dry and crumbly so we made a second change. We created a recipe using the exact same ingredients and produced a much creamier textured low-fat pressed cottage cheese.

We hope you will enjoy the packaging and the new taste!!
