What does the term 'free run' mean?
Free run chickens are chickens raised without cages. In most areas of Canada, it is not possible to have poultry outdoors all of the time, however they are given access to the outdoors when the weather permits. In a free run barn, hens have access to ample floor, nesting and roosting space.

Do Organic Meadow egg producers keep roosters with the hens?
Yes, one of the organic principles is to have a flock function as closely as possible to their natural habitat. Happy hens produce healthy eggs.

Why aren't Organic Meadow eggs advertised as Omega 3?
Our chicken feed contains flax seed, one of the natural sources of omega 3. Chickens are fed "free choice" meaning they are left to eat the feed that satisfies them. Sometimes they eat the flax seed and sometimes they prefer the corn. Our hens are never force-fed. Many of our eggs contain Omega 3 but we cannot make the claim that they all do.
